In September 2019, Stoney Middleton School entered into a formal collaboration with The Woodland Federation of Peak District Schools. Peak Forest School and Great Hucklow School (who make up the federation) are both small schools, meaning that all schools have an equal footing and that children from any of the schools are not outnumbered.
The headteacher and deputy headteacher share their time equally across the three schools; the days in attendance at each site may alter each week.
The children of Stoney Middleton were visiting Great Hucklow School weekly, from January 2019 until the pandemic school closures took effect, to participate in joint PE, Science, RE and Forest Schools learning. The children, and staff, expressed their enjoyment in the sessions and enjoyed the opportunity to make a wider circle of friends. We are all eagerly awaiting the day when our bubbles can rejoin.
